Graceful Gratefulness

Graceful Gratefulness

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)

Gratitude is like a precious flower. It is something that is planted, watered, protected and shared. When we are grateful, we acknowledge the very essence of what it means to be created, finite, fallen, redeemed, and sustained by the God of all grace.

Thankfulness should be a way of life for us, naturally flowing from our hearts and mouths. We recognise that all that we have and enjoy comes from the hands of a generous, loving God. When we are truly thankful, our focus moves off selfish desires and off the pain of current circumstances. Expressing thankfulness reminds us of the broader perspective, that God is in control.

As a Common Good team, we reflect over the past term with an attitude of thankfulness and a firm reassurance that we belong to God, and that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. As this busy season comes to an end we appreciate God’s abounding provision over the TWD campaign, His merciful hands at work within our ‘Champions for Children’ programme in Vrygrond and His compassionate heart within the completion of the Justice Journey and beginning of the Social Justice Ministry Teams.
What a Sovereign and inspiring God we serve. He is so worthy of our gratitude today, and always.
What do you have to be thankful for?

  • The end of 2015 and start of 2016 has been challenging to say the least for me in many aspects of my life. As I have done just what this is saying, that is, to be thankful for all God has done for me and continues to do for me there has been a deep sense of the pleasure of God. During this tough time in the natural my relationship with The Father continues to deepen to levels I have never experienced in all the years I have know Him. He is indeed so good. Thank you for this very encouraging article.
