His Beautiful Fragrance

His Beautiful Fragrance

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.”
2 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV)

There is such a great well of richness to the words that Paul uses. And as our team pondered upon this verse, we were so aware of the confidence with which Paul spoke. How naturally he incorporated the sovereignty of the Father in his text, and how he acknowledged that all which is outwardly done or achieved, is accomplished through the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
Paul stresses the need of gratitude towards our God who constantly leads us along a path that is destined and filled with fruitfulness and overwhelming success- that our very walk with God is a powerfully celebratory one.
We are filled with adoration of our Father, that He uses us in a manner that is both directional and glorious. Oh but it is the beautiful description of our servanthood through Christ that has truly captured our hearts with warmth- that we possess the very fragrance of Christ himself when we receive the knowledge of Him. What a lovely blessing it is to be trusted and lavished on by our God that He would bestow upon us the attractive aroma of Christ (vs.15).
We are so appreciative and in awe of this fragrance that is so evident among believers. How can it be that a perfectly holy God surrounds and fills us with Himself, that a cloud of magnificence and beauty is able to radiate from within merely deficient human beings?! We find ourselves in utter awe of such surpassing love that our Father encompasses.
As the Common Good team, it is our prayer that we would entirely embrace this gift, and share this awe-inspiring presence with all whom we encounter.

Won’t you join us in a prayerful awareness of the fragrance of Christ with which we are entrusted?
